Rat Lab Walkthrough: Your First Session, Roles, and Escape
A source-checked first-session walkthrough for the Roblox Rat Lab: choose a role, learn the session timer, run an experiment, or clear three stages and escape.
This walkthrough is for the Roblox experience Rat Lab by Evil Science. It does not cover the Steam puzzle game Lab Rat, the Portal comic, or a malware-analysis challenge. The goal is to get you from the official game page into a useful first round without inventing a map or a stat table.
Before You Join
Use the official Rat Lab page. The place ID is 105904727825849 and the universe ID is 10598688389. The game is free, and the developer describes three roles: Lab Rat, Scientist, and Security.
The official listing also gives the key progression rule: tools unlock the longer you play, but the timer resets every session. Do not expect a permanent account level to carry your tool access forward.
Step 1: Choose the Role You Want to Learn

There is no official evidence that these are unlockable heroes. They are roles within the experience.
Step 2: Play the Role Objective
Lab Rat route
- Learn the containment area and watch security movement.
- Test the bite on a wall that reacts to it.
- Progress through all three stages.
- Reach the outside to satisfy the Out of the Lab badge.

Scientist route
- Join as a Scientist.
- Create a mutation.
- Test it on a live rat subject.
- Record the result and check for For Science.
- Keep experimenting toward New Specimen, which is awarded for logging a mutation nobody had recorded.

Security route
- Join as Security.
- Watch for rats attempting to leave containment.
- Recapture a runner and return them to a closed cell.
- Check for Caught One.
Step 3: Use Badges as Checkpoints
The six official badges are a better progress checklist than a made-up level table. The first-join badge is Test Subject. The role-specific badges are Out of the Lab, Through the Wall, For Science, New Specimen, and Caught One. The complete requirements are on the badge guide.
What to Ignore
- A hash, VirusTotal, or CyberDefenders walkthrough.
- A Portal 2 comic summary.
- A Steam store page for a different game called Lab Rat.
- A paid “tool unlock” or “mutation code” offer.
- Exact keybinds, mutation percentages, or map coordinates without a developer source.
